Boreham Wood – Match Preview

Last updated : 12 August 2006 By Gary Calder

Watford continue to build up to the 2006/07 campaign when they make the short journey to Meadow Park, home of Boreham Wood FC tomorrow (Saturday), Kick-off 3pm for a third pre-season friendly inside five days.

The fixture has been arranged to consolidate the goodwill that currently exists between the two clubs, which extends to the Golden Boys using Meadow Park for a number of their reserve team fixtures.

Boreham Wood, managed by Steve Cook has, during the summer, transferred over to the Premier Division of the Ryman League following their promotion from Division One East of the Southern League, and their pre-season preparations has seen them play four matches to date, victories over fellow Ryman Leaguers, Hendon and Harlow being tempered by losses against a Tottenham XI and Nationwide Conference National outfit, Stevenage Borough.

Watford, fresh from midweek victories against Northwood and Wycombe Wanderers are again expected to field an experimental line-up, including a number of triallists looking to impress manager Aidy Boothroyd sufficiently enough to earn a contract with the Premiership newcomers.

It promises to be a fun afternoon, and with an attractive venue and the weather set fair it is the perfect opportunity to support one of Hertfordshire's smaller clubs.
