Wycombe Wanderers - Match Preview

Last updated : 12 August 2006 By Gary Calder

Watford continues their pre-season programme this evening with a visit to Coca-Cola League Two club, Wycombe Wanderers.

The Adams Park men narrowly missed out on promotion last season, losing to Cheltenham Town in a two legged semi-final and new manager, ex-Scotland International Paul Lambert, after replacing John Gorman in the summer, will be hoping his charges are raring to go ahead of their first league fixture of the 2006/07 campaign at home to Wrexham a week on Saturday.

Watford for their part are expected to field a much stronger eleven than took to the field against non-league Northwood last night as their preparations for the Premiership begin in earnest and manager, Aidy Boothroyd will no doubt be running the rule over a number of new formations which may include new signings, Chris Powell and Damien Francis making their non-competitive debuts for the Golden Boys.

It should be an entertaining contest so why not make the short journey down the M40 to cheer on the lads.
