Aston Villa v Watford

Watford are expected to be without winger, Ashley Young as they attempt to gain their first away victory of the campaign at Villa Park.

Young has been the subject of intense transfer speculation all week, and late on Thursday Aston Villa manager, Martin O'Neill tabled a bid for the Stevenage born front man, thought to be in the region of £9.65m.

Manager, Aidy Boothroyd is also sweating on the fitness of star defender, Dan Shittu who has missed the last two matches with an ankle problem. If he fails a late test, Malkay Mackay is expected to retain his place.

James Chambers (gash) is still not fit and joins long term absentees, Marlon King and Clarke Carlisle on the sidelines.

Aston Villa, without a win in 12 matches may give a first start to Phil Bardsley at right back, but are certain to be missing midfield playmaker, Stilivan Petrov who is ruled out with a hamstring strain.
