Boothroyd In The Clear!

The FA are unlikely to bring a charge against Watford manager, Aidy Boothroyd following his outspoken comments immediately after the conclusion of Saturday's match at Portsmouth.

Disappointed his side had been denied two valid penalties Boothroyd was then incensed by the apparent injustice of referee Mr. Foy awarding a spot kick for the home side after Jay DeMerit's challenge on Kanu a minute from time.

Boothroyd called for greater consistency amongst the Select Group of officials claiming,

“You expect officials to have good games and they didn't. I'm not advocating prison sentences, but let's get medieval and put them in the stocks for an hour or two and throw rotten tomatoes at them.”

Television replays suggested the Watford boss had some justification, but the Bradford born boss remained unrepentant admitting.

“I expect I am in trouble already but I am not letting this go”.

However, it is thought the FA will take a lenient view of his outburst, regarding it more as tongue in cheek rather than anything more sinister.
