Foster - Door Still Open

The 23-year-old made a tremendous impression whilst on loan at the club last season and the Golden Boys manager is optimistic that the Leamington Spa born stopper will return for a further season, despite Manchester United being unable to land a suitable back up to regular first choice, Edwin Van der Sar.

Whilst acknowledging that there is going to be a time when he simply can not wait any longer for a decision to be made on the immediate future of the young England hopeful, the Watford gaffer has admitted he is prepared to hold fire for the moment,

"We are very keen to bring him back.

He's very much part of the plans here for this season. I like keepers who can distribute the ball and his ability to get the ball from back to front suits us with the players we have got. He is fundamental to what we do.

I've got assurances from Sir Alex. We speak on a regular basis and I'm just hoping to be able to tie it up soon. There are things that are beyond our control at the minute and we are just waiting to see what happens."

Foster made 48 appearances for the Golden Boys last season, keeping 14 clean sheets as Watford clinched promotion to the Barclays Premiership via the play-offs.
