Young Arsenal starlet, Theo Walcott grabbed a late double in Leverkusen as England clinched their place in next summer's finals in Holland, a match that also marked the first full appearance of Watford's Ashley Young in an international shirt.

Walcott's sublimely taken goals inside the last ten minutes ended an anxious evening for Peter Taylor's men who had struggled to contain a lively German outfit in a game that saw both sides reduced to ten men.

Germany also missed a first half penalty, and were left to rue a host of other excellent opportunities as Walcott twice showed a blistering turn of speed to defeat a tiring German defence before finishing with clinical execution after coming off the bench to replace Aston Villa's, Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Young himself had a composed game but will have been disappointed to have only found the side-netting after being put through one on one with German goalkeeper, Michael Rensing just before the end.
