Both Wigan and Sunderland had made bids for Helguson but he has opted for a move to Chris Colemans side where he has signed a four-year deal in a £1.3m transfer.

"When the chance came to return to the Premiership I couldn't turn it down," the Icelandic international told Fulhams official website.

"I enjoyed my time at Watford as I made many good friends there over the years.

"I am happy to join Fulham and am looking forward to working with the management team and hopefully to securing my place in the starting line-up."
