Ighalo claims Championship PFA Fans' Player of the Month award for January

Little wonder, since the former Udinese striker who joined from Granada in the summer, managed to bag six goals in just two games last month.

The Nigerian international had to wait two months before being allowed to grasp the chance he has taken with both hands...and feet!

Ighalo’s work ethic is something which impresses his manager as much as the goals he provides for the team and Jokanovic says: “He is a quality player who works very hard. Since I arrived sometimes I use him or sometimes I don’t.

“However I use him, whether it is ten minutes, bringing him on at half time or starting him he always works like a professional, an adult man.”

The Nigerian struck twice in the 5-0 win over Charlton before doubling up against Blackpool as he hit four in the 7-2 win which kept the Seasiders treading water in the Championship.

Ighalo was also on target in the 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield and has now joins fans’ favourite Troy Deeney on 11 goals for the season as the Hornets push for promotion.
