Leicester 4-1 Watford: Player ratings as FA Cup holders reach fourth round

FA Cup holders Leicester secured their spot in the fourth round as they thumped Watford 4-1 at King Power Stadium.

The hosts went ahead when Francisco Sierralta brought down Marc Albrighton, allowing Youri Tielemans to convert from the penalty spot.

The Hornets were pretty sloppy during the first half and soon fell 2-0 behind as the Foxes scored an excellent second. Some lovely build-up play ended with Ademola Lookman playing in James Maddison, who lifted the ball over Daniel Bachmann with ease.

However, that two goal advantage was quickly dashed when Joao Pedro kept his composure to replicate Maddison's strike with a similar finish into the far corner.

Leicester made it 3-1 in the second half as Harvey Barnes broke free and finished courtesy of Lookman's pass. The offside flag originally went up but a VAR intervention saw the goal given.

The lights went out at King Power Stadium midway through the second half and it was Watford who seemed to adjust better once the game got back underway as Dan Gosling struck the bar.

However, there was to be no comeback as Leicester rounded off the win in style – Albrighton rattling in on the rebound.

Leicester will find out their opponents in the next round when the fourth round draw takes place on Sunday, while Watford's attention for the remainder of the season will firmly be on securing Premier League survival.

Danny Ward (GK) - 6/10 - Good save with his feet to keep out Hernandez's strike. Aside from that, wasn't tested.

Marc Albrighton (RB) - 8/10 - Earned his side a penalty with a tumble in the box. Found Lookman in the build-up to the second goal.

Jannik Vestargaard (CB) - 7/10 - Made a nuisance of himself in Watford's box. Got an important deflection to divert Gosling's effort onto the bar.

Hamza Choudhury (CB) - 7/10 - Played in an unfamiliar role due to Leicester's squad availability issues. Distribution was excellent at the back.

Vontae Daley-Campbell (LB) - 5/10 - Looked nervy on debut, bringing down Ngakia out wide for a booking before hacking down Hernandez and luckily avoiding a second yellow. Brought off at half time.

2. Midfielders

Tielemans scored the opener | Michael Regan/GettyImages

Lewis Brunt (CM) - 7/10 - First start for Leicester. Switched over the left back when Daley-Campbell was withdrawn. Made a number of clearances and wasn't shy in the tackle.

Youri Tielemans (CM) - 8/10 - Made no mistake from the spot, squeezing his strike into the bottom corner. Ran the show in midfield.

James Maddison (AM) - 8/10 - Lovely finish to put Leicester 2-0, continuing his excellent run of goalscoring form. Pulled strings behind the front three and kept Watford guessing with his range of passing.

3. Forwards

Lookman had an excellent afternoon | Michael Regan/GettyImages

Harvey Barnes (RW) - 8/10 - Did well to get in behind Watford's defence on a few occasions. Broke free and converted well for Leicester's third. Played a role in his side's fourth.

Ayoze Perez (ST) - 6/10 - Not as effective as the rest of the forwards and came off in the second half.

Ademola Lookman (LW) - 8/10 - Nice pass set Maddison in on goal for Leicester's second. Got another assist with a well weighted ball for Barnes. An excellent outing.

Watford player ratings

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Watford were poor defensively | James Williamson - AMA/GettyImages

Daniel Bachmann (GK) - 5/10 - Couldn't get near the goals and didn't make many saves.

Jeremy Ngakia (RB) - 6/10 - Got into good areas out wide and gave Daley-Campbell plenty of problems. One of Watford's bette performers.

Craig Cathcart (CB) - 4/10 - Pretty poor positionally as Leicester ran through the middle of Watford's defence for their goals. Didn't lead at the back and didn't pick up runners who went beyond him.

Francisco Sierralta (CB) - 4/10 - Hauled back Albrighton for a somewhat soft penalty. Put in a pretty poor effort for Barnes' strike, sticking his arm up in an appeal for offside.

James Morris (LB) - 6/10 - Looked tidy on his Watford debut without being overly effectual.

6. Midfielders

Sissoko takes on Tielemans | Michael Regan/GettyImages

Tom Cleverley (CM) - 5/10 - Leicester's midfield largely overran Cleverley, who was brought off in the second half.

Moussa Sissoko (CM) - 5/10 - Hustled and bustled in his own unique way in midfield, though couldn't help Watford get a platform in the game.

Ozan Tufan (AM) - 3/10 - Chased shadows all over the pitch and doesn't look to be of the required quality that Watford need.

7. Forwards

Joao Pedro (RW) - 7/10 - Brought Watford back into the game with a well taken strike against the run of play. Looked a menace throughout until his substitution.
