Premier League confirms six new dates for previously postponed fixtures

The Premier League has confirmed new dates for six fixtures that were postponed earlier in the season, including Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Numerous Premier League games were called off in December and January as a result of clubs claiming they were unable to field full squads as a result of Covid-19 and injuries.

Some of those games, including Manchester United’s clashes with Brentford and Brighton, have already been rescheduled and played. But the sheer number of matches that needed to be rearranged in an increasingly shorter timeframe have made it an incredible challenge.

Southampton vs Newcastle, Wolves vs Watford and Leeds vs Aston Villa will now all be played on the evening of Thursday 10 March. That has had a knock-on effect for four of those clubs, whose fixtures originally scheduled for the following Saturday have been pushed back to the Sunday.

Tottenham’s trip to Brighton is another of the rescheduled postponements and will be played on Wednesday 16 March, with Arsenal and Liverpool in action later that evening. Everton then host Newcastle the next night on Thursday 17 March.
