Saturday's results & player ratings

Aston Villa 0-1 Man Utd - LIVE

28 mins - GREENWOOD CLOSE AGAIN!

Greenwood has been lively. He's just thrashed one inches wide of Martinez's net - you can sense another United goal coming...

19 mins - ANOTHER UNITED CHANCE!

It's been one-way traffic so far. Edinson Cavani is causing all sorts of havoc in the Villa box, drawing defenders away and leaving Mason Greenwood unmarked - the youngster just had a close-range effort denied by Martinez.

12 mins - CHANCE!

United have started this game well, despite how fortunate their goal was. Anthony Elanga - making a Premier League start for the first time - rose above Matty Cash to reach a cross, but his header only found the side netting.

6 mins - GOAL! Aston Villa 0-1 Man Utd (Fernandes)

Man Utd have the lead! Alex Telles touches a free-kick to Bruno Fernandes, who lets fly from range - and somehow the shot squirms through Emiliano Martinez and into the net. Oh dear.

Good evening, football fans! Saturday's Premier League action comes to a close with Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa hosting Manchester United.

The big news prior to kick-off is that Cristiano Ronaldo has not recovered from a hip problem in time to feature at Villa Park, while Philippe Coutinho is among the substitutes for the hosts.

Lucas Digne, fresh from his move from Everton, starts for the Villans, and Anthony Elanga is playing his first Premier League game from the off for United.

Aston Villa XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Luiz, Sanson, Ramsey; Buendia, Ings, Watkins

Man Utd XI: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Telles; Matic, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Elanga; Cavani
