Premier League preview & predictions: Gameweek 11

Before we bid farewell to domestic action for another international break, the Premier League is set to treat us to a string of brilliant parting gifts.

There are several standout clashes to look forward to during Gameweek 11, kicking off with a lower-table scrap between Southampton and Aston Villa on Friday night.

This is followed by the pick of the games on Saturday lunchtime, the Manchester derby, while Crystal Palace vs Wolves and West Ham vs Liverpool both promise to be crackers.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of this weekend's action...

Friday

Southampton vs Aston Villa

When is kick off? Friday 5 November, 20:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? St Mary's Stadium
TV channel/live stream? Sky Sports (UK), fuboTV (US)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel (5.15pm - UK), Match of the Day (BBC - UK)
Who's the referee? Andy Madley
Who's on VAR duty? Stuart Attwell

We begin with a trip to the south coast where Southampton are hosting Aston Villa on Friday night.

On paper, this is not the most glamourous fixture but it is an important one - particularly for Villa boss Dean Smith. Smith is under pressure to get his glut of summer signings firing, but after four defeats on the spin, he will likely just settle for keeping things tight at the back against Saints.

Prediction: Southampton 0-0 Aston Villa

Saturday

Man Utd vs Man City

City will be desperate for three points | Steve Bardens/GettyImages

When is kick off? Saturday 6 November, 12:30 (GMT)
Where is it being played? Old Trafford, Manchester
What TV channel is it on? Sky Sports(UK), fuboTV(US)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel, Match of the Day - BBC (UK)
Who's the referee? Michael Oliver
Who's on VAR duty? Darren England

OOOOOHHHHHH, IT'S THE BIG ONE!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done enough to keep his job for now but another performance against a rival akin to the one his side put in during their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool recently and he will be under more pressure than ever.

At least his charges are facing a City side who have put in a few stuttering displays of late, crashing out of the Carabao Cup to West Ham - as United also did earlier this season - before losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace last time out.

Despite these shaky results, Pep Guardiola's side are still much, much, much better than their Manchester rivals and should secure victory.

Prediction: Man Utd 1-2 Man City

Brentford vs Norwich City

When is kick off? Saturday 6 November, 15:00 (GMT)
Where is it being played? Brentford Community Stadium
What TV channel is it on? Final Score - BBC, Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (UK), fuboTV(US)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel, Match of the Day - BBC (UK)
Who's the referee? Jarred Gillett
Who's on VAR duty? Lee Mason

Two points, three goals and 25 conceded. Those numbers tell the story of Norwich's first ten Premier League games this season and they already look bereft of hope at the bottom of the table.

Their tormentors this week are Brentford. The Bees have not won any of their last five meetings with Norwich, but we should see that change on Saturday.

Prediction: Brentford 2-0 Norwich City

Chelsea vs Burnley

When is kick off? Saturday 6 November, 15:00 (GMT)
Where is it being played? Stamford Bridge, London
What TV channel is it on? Final Score - BBC, Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (UK), fuboTV(US)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel (UK), Match of the Day - BBC (UK)
Who's the referee? Andre Marriner
Who's the VAR? Mike Dean

Chelsea are very well-resourced. Burnley are not very well-resourced.

Shockingly then, we've gone for a home win here. The fact that Burnley have lost six of their last seven meetings with Chelsea does not help their case either.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Burnley

Crystal Palace vs Wolves

When is kick off? Saturday 6 November, 15:00 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Selhurst Park
TV channel/live stream? Final Score (BBC), Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (UK), NBCSN/fuboTV (US)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube Channel (5.15pm - UK), Match of the Day (BBC - UK)
Referee? Graham Scott
VAR? John Brooks

Neither Crystal Palace nor Wolves have lost in their previous five Premier League games with new managers Patrick Vieira and Bruno Lage defying their pre-season expectations so far.

Something has to give at Selhurst Park on Saturday, though?! Well, no, it doesn't actually. This evenly-matched pair will most likely play out a draw.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-0 Wolves

Brighton vs Newcastle

When is kick off? Saturday 6 November, 17:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? The Amex
TV channel/live stream? BT Sport (UK), NBCSN/fuboTV (US)
Highlights? BT Sport YouTube Channel, Match of the Day (BBC - UK)
Referee? David Coote
VAR? Craig Pawson

Newcastle are yet to enjoy a new-manager bounce under the guidance of interim boss Graeme Jones and things do not get any easier with his side set to take the long trip south to face Brighton on Saturday evening.

The Seagulls have not been quite as electric as they were at the start of the campaign, drawing four of their last five games, but they remain a strong outfit as evidenced by their impressive point against Liverpool last weekend.

In the end, they should see off the omnishambles that is Newcastle United without too much fuss.

Prediction: Brighton 3-1 Newcastle

Sunday

Arsenal vs Watford

When is kick off? Sunday 7 November, 14:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Emirates Stadium
TV channel/live stream? Sky Sports Main Event (UK), fuboTV (US)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube Channel, Match of the Day (BBC - UK)
Referee? Kevin Friend
VAR? Jarred Gillett

It's the (almost) London derby!

Arsenal have finally clicked into gear of late under Mikel Arteta, but whether this is another false dawn remains to be seen.

Momentum is key in football and the Gunners will be keen to put in a professional performance against Watford to prove they are the real deal. Or, at least the kind of 'real deal' capable of finishing in the top seven again.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Watford

Everton vs Tottenham

When is kick off? Sunday 7 November, 14:00 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Goodison Park
What TV channel is it on? Sports Sunday - Sky Sports (UK), NBC (US), DAZN (Canada)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel (UK), Match of the Day 2 (BBC - UK, 10.30pm)
Referee? Chris Kavanagh
VAR? Jonathan Moss

Ladies and gentleman, Antonio Conte is back in the Premier League. This is some coup by Tottenham and the Italian taskmaster will be looking to get off to a good start against a stuttering Everton side.

Three successive defeats have seen the Toffees slip to tenth in the table after an impressive start. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure still out injured, they could struggle to break that streak against Spurs.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Tottenham

Leeds vs Leicester

When is kick off? Sunday 7 November, 14:00 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Elland Road
What TV channel is it on? Sports Sunday - Sky Sports (UK), fuboTV (US), DAZN (Canada)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel (UK), Match of the Day 2 (BBC - UK, 10.30pm)
Referee? Darren England
VAR? Peter Bankes

Leeds and Leicester have had leaky defences this season and as they both like to play open football, we should be in for a decent spectacle on Sunday.

They beat each other once each last season, but we think the Foxes have a better chance of claiming the spoils this time around.

Prediction: Leeds 2-3 Leicester

West Ham vs Liverpool

When is kick off? Sunday 7 November, 16:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? London Stadium
What TV channel is it on? Sky Sports (UK), NBC (US), DAZN (Canada)
Highlights? Sky Sports YouTube channel (UK), Match of the Day 2 (BBC - UK, 10.30pm)
Referee? Craig Pawson
VAR? Stuart Attwell

Seeing us through to the international break is a table-topping clash between West Ham and Liverpool.

The Reds were dealt a major blow in the build-up with Roberto Firmino joining their lengthy injury list, while West Ham could be tired following their Europa League excursions on Thursday.

Liverpool have been supreme this season and could set a new club record for games unbeaten if they avoid defeat. We expect them to do exactly that too.
