Quique Sanchez Flores relaxed about Watford future

The Spaniard took over at Watford in the summer ahead of their first season back in the Barclays Premier League for eight years and has all-but guided them to safety.

Flores has also masterminded an FA Cup semi-final appearance after beating holders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in round six but fresh newspaper reports on Thursday claim he is on tenterhooks over his future given the reputation of owner Gino Pozzo.

The Italian's family own Watford, as well as Udinese and Granada, and have recently sacked the managers of their other two clubs.

Sanchez became Watford's fifth manager inside 12 months last summer but, with another year remaining on his current deal, the 51-year-old is not worried about speculation regarding his position ahead of Saturday's trip to West Brom.

"We are relaxed inside the club," he said when asked about the latest reports.

"I'm not worried for my future, I'm really happy in Watford and really happy with this group and in terms of how the club are with me.

"I have strong contact with the owner so I don't need to be supported every time, I'm not this type of person

When I feel good it is okay

Everything is clear

We are planning - we are planning the pre-season of next year."

Flores has earned praise this season for bringing together a much-changed, international squad of players and producing some memorable displays.

FA Cup run aside, that form has slumped in recent weeks and the Hornets are without a Premier League win in six - with the former Atletico Madrid and Valencia boss admitting his side are still not safe in his mind and that he has very few options to revert to a 'Plan B' to grind out results.

"We want to be really competitive in the last matches," added Flores.

"We need to add points and we are not completely safe

We are always completely positive and remain really happy with the performance of the team in terms of the full season but of course we don't want to relax.

"We try to be ambitious and add more points, the necessary points - this is the challenge.

"If you say we need two points from 18 it is not a good mentality, we want 18 points

We want to go to every single stadium to play well and be competitive and get a good result.

"It is clear

The second half of the season we have problems to score - I try to support the strikers because Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo are amazing players and have a lot of responsibility.

"In terms of the goals, I would be worried if we didn't create attempts

You do not score, it is a problem but it is more difficult to create attempts than to score.

"We have one style of play which depends on our strikers, we can't depend on one striker

We try things but we are not this kind of team, we are building and it is the first year in the Premier League.

"We don't have a lot of tools and lots of different responses when we have problems

It is something that is not easy to solve."
