Watford Clinch Shittu Deal

Last updated : 06 August 2006 By Gary Calder

Watford has this morning (Sunday) revealed they have clinched the signing of imposing Queens Park Rangers defender, Danny Shittu.

Shittu, 25, had been the subject of a two way tussle involving the Golden Boys and recently relegated West Bromwich Albion, but the Nigerian born played finally agreed to a three year deal at Vicarage Road after Watford increased their original £1.5 million offer to the Loftus Road club.

Shittu arrives at Watford after making 181 appearances in a Hoops shirt for a fee of £1.6 million, which could rise to £3m subject to appearances and future Golden Boys success.

The centre half missed the West Londoners opening day Coca-Cola Championship defeat at Burnley yesterday, but is now available to make his non-competitive debut for Watford against Inter Milan in their prestigious home friendly against the Italian giants on Tuesday evening, Kick-off 7.45pm.
