Claudio Ranieri will be relieved of his duties as Watford manager this weekend following his side's disastrous 3-0 home defeat to struggling Norwich City on Friday.
The defeat left the Hornets 18th in the Premier League table, three points adrift of their conquerors Norwich, albeit with two games in hand.
Results have been poor since Ranieri took over with Watford losing 11 of his 14 games in the hot seat. 90min understands that this has convinced owner Gino Pozzo to make a change, with the Italian set to part ways with the club imminently.
The Hornets had been considering appointing a new head coach for some time, despite Ranieri only being appointed in October.
Watford do not play again until Saturday 5 February when they travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley in what is another vital relegation six-pointer. This gives them ample time to find Ranieri's replacement.
Speaking after the Norwich defeat, the former Chelsea and Leicester boss had vowed to fight on, but it now appears that he will not be given that opportunity.
"No, I don't go away, I want to continue because I am a fighter," Ranieri said when quizzed about his future.
"I never give up in my career, this is a good team but they must change the mentality, some players have to follow (Moussa) Sissoko and (Tom) Cleverley, the two captains, this is my word."
