Watford Football Club has confirmed they have re-signed former striker, Tommy Smith from Coca-Cola Championship side, Derby County.

The 26-year-old returns to Vicarage Road having agreed a four-year deal, with the transfer fee believed to be in the region of £500, 000, rising dependent on appearances and Watford retaining their Premiership status.

The locally born front man began his career at Watford as a trainee in 1997 and was part of the team that won promotion from the old Division Two to the Premiership in successive seasons, where he gained top flight experience.

Smith left Watford for Sunderland in 2003 before joining Derby County a year later, and won the Rams' Player of the Year Award last season.

The pacey winger, with a keen eye for goal, made a total of 167 appearances for the Golden Boys during his first spell at Vicarage Road, netting 36 times.
