Watford Chairman, Graham Simpson says redevelopment of Vicarage Road is a necessity for the Golden Boys to become a force in English football

With Watford possibly on the brink of a return to the Premiership they last graced in 1999 the Golden Boys chairman has wisely been reminding everyone that a lot still needs to be done to ensure financial stability of the club that only last Friday reported losses of £463, 345 for the final six months of 2005.

Talking to the official website, Watfordfc.com Simpson said,

"Obtaining promotion to the Premier League will help significantly in the short-term - however, it is not a long term solution,"

"For Watford to be a sustainable business in years to come, we have to look beyond our match-day income. That is why the redevelopment of Vicarage Road is such an important strategic goal for the board.

"If we can achieve this, then we will be able to create a first-class facility that can be utilised every week of the year by corporate clients and our fans."
