Aidy's View: Manchester City (h)

The Hornets have managed just four wins in 35 games and the draw against Stuart Pearce's side made it mathematically impossible for the club to stay up this season.

"It would be easy for me to stand here and blame referees, linesmen, injuries, suspensions and the moon and anything else, but let's face facts," Boothroyd said.

"We were outstanding last year to do what we did and get up with what we had and it was brilliant for the club.

"This season's not to be regretted, but I don't want people to feel sorry for us. We got what we deserved, and you do whether you go down or win the Championship.

"It's a tough league, it's a tough nine months and it's been extremely difficult.

"But without a shadow of a doubt the people in that dressing room will be far better players for it, and I'll be better for it and as a club we're in a far stronger position, so we won't be feeling sorry for ourselves.

"We have to use these experiences to make sure we have a good crack at it next season and go straight back up."
