Aidy's View: Portsmouth (a)

Referring primarily to Mr. Foy's award of an 89th minute penalty for an alleged nudge by Jay Demerit on Kanu, which ultimately cost his team what would have been a deserved and valuable point at an intimidating Fratton Park, Boothroyd barked,

"Referees who get decisions wrong should be demoted. Why should us poor managers have to put up with this?

"I've said my piece to the ref and I want to say it to the people who count. Kanu was offside when he was fouled and we should have had two penalties."

A clearly animated Boothroyd continued,

"People come and pay money to support us and follow us all over the country and they're magnificent, and those players work hard every day to be the best that they can be so we can come here and get a result. When we work as hard as we do we expect a little bit of continuity, and we expect officials to have good games and they didn't.

"I think it's a case of dealing with big personalities and not being overawed by the occasion and I'm not talking about my players.

"Of course I'm critical, but I hope it's constructive, I hope it is. I'm not ranting and raving, what I do think is that you expect consistency and if you don't get that you're disappointed."
