Paul Robinson embarrassed England rival Ben Foster with a bizarre goal in the second half to give Tottenham yet another victory over struggling Watford at White Hart Lane.

Robinson has faced nothing but stick this season following his blunder against Croatia back in October, but showed he has put that all behind him and is determined to establish himself as England's number one.

And he will be giving nothing but stick to his England rival when they meet up for international duty this week, after Foster totally misread his 90-yard free-kick and the ball bounced over him into the back of the net.

Robinson's strike stole all the headlines, but Jermaine Jenas and Hossam Ghaly ensured Spurs maintained their impressive winning streak in the Premiership and kept alive their chances of finishing in the top six.

Tottenham dominated the opening exchanges and could have broken the deadlock after 17 minutes.

Steed Malbranque raced away down the left before cutting the ball back for Mido, but the Egyptian striker fired his close-range shot high over the bar.

Jenas was clearly looking to impress on his return to the side and also came close on 20 minutes when he found himself unmarked on the edge of the box, but fired a blistering drive just past the post.

Jenas was involved in the heart of the action once again on 24 minutes when his pass picked out Defoe, but his low shot was well saved by Foster diving low to his right.

The home side finally got their just rewards when their best player Jenas opened the scoring for Tottenham on 41 minutes.

Pascal Chimbonda's cross into the box picked out Jenas, who rose above two Watford defenders to head the ball past Foster into the corner of the net.

Defoe should have made it two for Spurs just before the break after he weaved his way into the penalty box and broke clear of the Watford defence.

But with the goal at his mercy he sliced his shot inches past the post.

The game totally erupted into life on 63 minutes, when Robinson stole all the headlines when he got his name on the scoresheet.

The Tottenham keeper played a 90-yard free kick up the pitch which bounced once in the penalty area and over the head of Foster into the back of the net.

Foster refused to let the blunder affect him and made a superb save on 74 minutes to deny Tom Huddlestone's fierce 25-yard drive.

Tottenham wrapped up the victory when Ghaly added a third on 85 minutes. Substitute Aaron Lennon played the ball into the midfielder who saw his deflected shot fly past Foster into the corner of the net.

Watford grabbed a consolation strike two minutes from time when Tommy Smith's cross picked out Darius Henderson who slid the ball home, but it came too late for Aidy Boothroyd's side, who must surely be looking at playing in the Championship next season.
