Watford Res 1 West Ham United Res 1

A goal in stoppage time by Watford's John-Joe O'Toole rescued the home side from a first defeat in four games against West Ham United at Boreham Wood last night.

Trailing to Zavon Hines' 23rd minute strike for the Hammers, Gary Smith's tenacious side fought manfully in the closing stages and was rewarded when O'Toole dramatically leveled following a goalmouth scramble.

A late withdrawal in the visitor's ranks saw a return to action of former star, Kevin Keen, now reserve team coach at Upton Park.

It was apparent from kick-off that the visitors were intent on avenging last week's three goal drubbing at Dagenham & Redbridge in the reverse fixture, and they deservedly took the lead just after the midway point of the first half.

A terrific run down the left by Kyel Reid ended with a low cross to the edge of the penalty area, where Hines controlled and found the net with a superb finish.

Although the second half was a more evenly contested affair there was few clear cut chances at either end, and West Ham United seemed set for all three points until O'Toole's timely intervention.
