Player Ratings v Fulham

Ben Foster

Yet another immense performance from a man destined for International honours in the near future! Made two or three wonderful reflex saves and commanded his area brilliantly in the closing stages as the defence tired.

Adrian Mariappa

Impressive display from the emerging 20-year-old. Strong in the tackle and distributed well.

Jordan Stewart

Hard working effort from the no nonsense full back, coped better in the second half after being out of position on too many occasions in the opening 45 minutes.

Dan Shittu

Looked less than fully fit and therefore ineffective. Replaced after 34 minutes by the evergreen Malky Mackay.

Jay DeMerit

Industrious performance from the American. Looked shaky in a poor first half, perhaps over compensating for defensive partner, Dan Shittu. Improved after the break but still not at his brilliant best.

Al Bangura

Worked tirelessly for the cause and desperately unlucky to see his fierce right foot shoot cannon off the woodwork early in the second half. Will only improve with every game played at this level.

Gavin Mahon

Epitomised the Watford team on the day. Poor in the first half when he let his opposite number run past him on too many occasions, back to something like his best after the interval. A number of crucial interceptions in the closing stages.

Anthony McNamee

Darted around on the left flank in his indomitable way. Found Liam Rosenoir a tough opponent, but used his head and started to ping the ball into the centre first time rather than take the defender on. Missed golden chance with a free back post header early on in the match.

Ashley Young

Always an outlet, and after breaking the offside trap as half time approached delivered a ‘match winning' cross for Tommy Smith. Moved out wide for the second half and still looked the most likely Watford player to penetrate the Fulham defence.

Tommy Smith

Failed to deliver quality from the wing in a poor first half apart from one early cross for Anthony McNamee which should have been converted. Had opportunity to make amends when racing into the penalty area to meet Ashley Young's teasing cross as the interval beckoned, but only managed to head the ball over from close range when well placed.

Tamas Priskin

Worked hard and showed a number of nice touches, harshly sent off in injury time. Looks to have bags of potential, key is whether he can convert this attribute into desperately needed goals for the side.

Malkay Mackay

A colossal performance from the veteran Scot, who steadied an all at sea defence after replacing Dan Shittu. Worked his socks off, resolute in the tackle and almost scored at the other end with overhead effort. Age against him, shame he is not five years younger!

Darius Henderson

Replaced the ineffectual Tommy Smith at half time and produced a performance reminiscent of too many this season. Works hard, but failed to produce either a telling pass, or devastating turn of pace to worry the Fulham rearguard greatly. Unlucky to see a speculative last gasp effort strike wood from distance.

Damien Francis

Came on in the 9th minute of injury time, no chance to impress.
