After seeing Watford knock-out Premiership opposition in West Brom in the fourth round tie at Vicarage Road, he said: "When all is said and done, I know it's not glamorous but it's all about the money now.

"We nearly didn't survive this season, and we almost slipped into administration.

"The players have taken a 12% wage cut, but days like this bring in much-needed money. We stopped them playing and it was our performance which won us the game.

"To do as well as we did is beyond what we expected. It was a marvellous performance."
