The 36-year-old qualified as a referee in 1991 and after progressing through the Ryman League he was promoted to the national list of referees in 2002.

Williamson had the delicate duty of being the man in the middle during Watford's Carling Cup First Round after extra-time victory over Bournemouth in 2003, which took place just three days after the tragic death of Manchester United loanee, Jimmy Davis.

Now an experienced Football League campaigner, Williamson also presided over three of Watford's matches during last year's triumphant promotion campaign.

The Berkshire born official took charge of the Golden Boys opening day defeat at home to Preston North End, but will perhaps be best remembered for sending off Ashley Young during Watford's never-to-be forgotten 2-1 triumph away to arch rivals Luton Town at the start of 2006.

Watford also won the other fixture in Williamson took charge, a Darius Henderson brace and a rare strike by Gavin Mahon ensuring a 3-1 televised success at Southampton in mid March.

Williamson has not officiated in any matches involving opponents, Hull City this season although he did officiate the Tigers two goal victory at Coventry City in September 2005, and more recently their odd goal in five reversal at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers last February.

Highlights in Williamson's career to date include running the line at the 2002 LDV Trophy final of 2002, and being the fourth official during the 2004 divisional play-offs.

Mr. Williamson will be joined by Mr. D.Bryan and Mr. I.Gosling as his assistants at Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening.
