Lee Mason In Charge Again

Last updated : 07 November 2006 By Gary Holmes

The 35-year-old takes charge of Watford for the second time in four matches, having presided over the Golden Boys goalless draw at Charlton Athletic as recently as October 21 2006.

On that particular occasion Mr. Mason did not brandish a card to any Watford player, and was perhaps a tad generous as he failed to give Charlton Athletic the benefit of two debatable ‘TV penalties'.

Prior to the Valley meeting, the Lancashire born official last took charge of Watford in their odd goal in three come from behind victory away to Hull City on Guy Fawkes last year.

Again Mr. Mason failed to produce a card of any colour to Aidy Boothroyd's men, goals by Gavin Mahon and Matthew Spring cancelling out Nicky Barmby's opener for the hosts as Watford maintained their ultimately successful promotion push at the KC Stadium.

Mr. Mason began refereeing in 1988 and progressed to the national list of assistant referees in 1998 before further progression saw him promoted to the Premier League list two years later.

Mr. Mason will be joined by Mr. S.G Artis and Mr. G.A Beale as his assistants at Vicarage Road tonight.
