West Ham United Res 0 Watford Res 1

Watford has got their Barclays Premiership Reserve League South season off to the perfect start following an excellent one goal success away to West Ham United last night.

Recent signing, Albert Jarrett was the hero, firing home just before the interval and the ex-Brighton & Hove Albion man's strike was enough to defeat a Hammers side including Robert Green, the England goalkeeper making his first competitive appearance for the club since his recent transfer from Norwich City.

The Golden Boys fielding a strong starting eleven, all of whom have played in the first team under Aidy Boothroyd had never seriously been troubled in the opening half apart from one Hogan Ephraim effort and the second period continued in much the same vein, with the visitors coming close to adding to their advantage through Matthew Spring and Anthony McNamee.

However, Jarrett's goal was to prove decisive and Watford will now be looking to build upon this away day success when they travel to Reading's impressive Madejski Stadium on Wednesday 13 September 2006 in their next fixture.
