With the score level at 1-1, referee Phil Dowd had adjudged that Clarke Carlisle had fouled Clinton Morrison in the box and Andrew Johnson scored what proved to be the winner from the resulting spot-kick.

"I thought he (the referee) got it wrong. I've asked him to look at it in a very calm manner but I've just seen it again on the video and if that's a penalty then!" Boothroyd said after the 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road.

"I still felt we did enough in the second half to get back in the game.

"We had the momentum and we have got to take heart that we had three or four good chances."
