The Hornets probably deserved a point for their second half showing against The Hammers in the final game of the season on Sunday and although Boothroyd was disappointed to end the season in defeat he remains upbeat about the way the side is taking shape under his leadership.

"I don't like to finish the season like that and I would have liked to have finished on a high but we had a go and we will have a go," he said after the 2-1 deafeat at Vicarage Road.

"That's the way the team will be set up, to go out and win points.

"If we put in a performance like we did the second-half, we'll certainly win more games than we lose next season."
