Foster Undergoes Op

Watford Football Club has confirmed this afternoon that on loan Manchester United stopper, Ben Foster underwent an operation yesterday (Monday) in a bid to cure his ongoing knee concern.

Foster has been troubled with his knee recently, and although he was rested for the last home game against Middlesbrough, the condition reoccurred during the first half of Saturday's fixture at Portsmouth.

As a precaution Foster was replaced by Richard Lee at half time and after consultation with the medical staff at Manchester United it was agreed that the 24-year-old would have a minor operation, immediately ruling him out of contention for next Tuesday's important Barclays Premiership clash with Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, long term injury victim Clarke Carlisle continues to struggle in his bid to return to action and is unlikely to be available before Christmas.

The former Queens Park Rangers star ironically injured himself against his former employers last April, and although his original thigh muscle tear healed over the summer, bone rather than muscle fibre subsequently grew back causing further complications for the popular defender.
