Henderson Targets Scotland Call

Fresh from scoring the penalty which ensured Watford's return to the Premiership on Sunday, Darius Henderson has made it known that he is now targeting a place in Walter Smith's national side. 

Although born in England, Henderson has a Scottish connection through his grandfather, making him eligible to play for the dark blues. 

Speaking to the Daily Record Henderson revealed. 

"I did have schoolboy trials for England when I was a kid growing up in Doncaster but nothing came of them.  

Now I'd jump at the chance to play for Scotland if Walter Smith was interested in taking a look at me”.  

Henderson continued,  

"I'm only 24 and I'd definitely be interested in playing for Scotland if they'll have me.  

I see myself as an old-fashioned target man who can run, so why not advertise myself for a cap if there's a possibility of getting one?  

I'm eligible to play for Scotland because my grandad's from Carnoustie so why not tell them and manipulate an international ruling every other country uses for its own interests.”  

Henderson scored 15 times this season as the Golden Boys made a triumphant return to the big time with victory over Leeds United in the Coca-Cola Championship Play-off Final at the weekend.
