It's going to the wire

Watford's win at Southampton last night edged them back into third place, a point ahead of Leeds United who entertain Crystal Palace this evening, and now just three behind Sheffield United who currently have 75 points from 39 games played.

Of the side's remaining fixtures it would appear that the Golden Boys have slightly the easier run in, although as we all know it is notoriously difficult to predict the outcome of football matches.

However, with Sheffield United and Leeds United due to play each other on Tuesday 18th April 2006 in a titanic clash at Bramall Lane, here at the Golden Boys we are predicting that a total of 88 points should be enough to elevate Watford into the promised land of the Premiership.

That would mean Aidy Boothroyd's men collecting a further 16 points from their remaining seven games, and when one considers that Watford has collected 14 points from their last seven matches, a period that includes a controversial defeat at promotion rivals, Leeds United this figure is well within reach!

Not easy but eminently achievable.
