We Deserved Something - Lewington

Paul Devlins equaliser after Richard Cresswell had given the home side the lead looked to have secured a good away point for the Hornets but for the second season running a last minute goal denied them a share of the spoils at Deepdale.

"The same thing happened here last year when we lost in the last minute," Lewington said after the game.

"We let it go today. We certainly had the chances and I felt on the balance of play we deserved something out of it, but you have to put your chances away.

"We had a bright first 10-15 minutes. I was pleased with the tempo and we got about Preston.

"At half-time we felt we were well in the match and came back with a quick goal which gave us a lift.

"I can't fault the effort. I think we worked Preston 100%. It was unbelievably hot pitchside - as hot as it gets. Fair credit to all the players."
